Learning to Paramotor

Paramotor lessons need to taught properly and progressively. Some people advertise as being able to train a new student solo from day one on power. With over twelve years experience in operating as a full time paragliding school we can't honestly see how this can be safely achieved. Do not underestimate the techniques and knowledge you will need to acquire to fly a paramotor properly. We train students on power units once they have reached a good level of understanding and ability.

The use of the BHPA syllabus for paramotor only courses will ensure that the student does not need to waste time learning skills that won't be used under power. If a BHPA qualified paramotor student would later like to learn to hill fly they would need only to attend one of our hill conversion courses.

The conversion course takes around four days to complete. You can then fly solo, hill or powered. Its nice to know that when your mates ask you to go flying in the Alps with them for a change from power, you will be qualified to do so.

The BHPA system requires us to first get you up to the Elementary Pilot standard which takes approximately four days and consists of the basics of solo paragliding.  This first qualification course can be achieved relatively quickly as we are not relying on perfect hill soaring conditions. All you need to do is get lots of short, simple canopy control flights. You definately do not need to do the complete BHPA Club Pilot course to convert to power. Once you are at Elementary Pilot level you can then easily continue your training using the power unit and the knowledge gained in this first four days will be vital. The BHPA system ends with the SPHG (self propelled hang glider) qualification. One big advantage here of the BHPA system is that the rating comes with ?2,000,000 personal liability insurance. The BHPA system is currently our prefered choice for training.

If you are interested in any of our paramotor courses please call and we will discuss your individual requirements. There is more information under the 'our courses' link to the left of this page.
